An Indian athlete, rather than focusing on improving himself has to go through the arduous process of finding the right kind of training, figuring out a proper diet, looking out for worthwhile competitions to enroll in, searching for opportunities to prove themselves, struggling to find sponsors to fund their passion and a plethora of other difficulties.
Any athlete who has made it big in the sports scenario knows that the only thing that is required to break the glass ceiling is a little encouragement from their parents, proper guidance, good nutrition and an arena to prove their worth. Seems pretty simple, but the reality is something else entirely- as shown from numerous newspaper reports and instances from across the country.
Determined to transform the apathy that sports faces in today’s culture, we, a group of young people, passionate about sports decided to intervene and make it a bit easier for athletes by eliminating these concerns.
This was the origin of Mustangs Sports Club- a one- of- a kind, sports club which enables passionate youngsters to enroll and gain access to resources which would otherwise be out of their reach for almost any sport you could imagine.
Mustangs originated as a corporate cricket team consisting of a group of young professionals looking to pursue their passion in sports, and taking a few hours off from our hectic professional lives. Each one of us had the drive and capacity to reach the next level, but for varying reasons, sports remained just a hobby. Realizing that something needed to be done to ensure that no more passions were extinguished, that no more hopes were dashed, we came together to form the Mustangs Sports Club.
It is our heartfelt desire that we, and our coaches, can act as the ‘older’ members of the pack or team and help guide the youngsters through the tough challenges ahead of them without inhibiting their free spiritedness and passion. Because, as Robert F. Kennedy said -
“This world demands the qualities of youth: not a time of life but a state of mind, a temper of the will, a quality of imagination, a predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over the love of ease!”
We wish to channel our youth and that of others as well, by encouraging them to support our vision, and ensuring that no sportsperson has to settle for something lesser in life, just because they couldn’t find a good coach or a sponsor, despite having the required talent.
We are sure, that if proper efforts are made right from the beginning, it is definitely possible to integrate several sports in the mainstream.
